Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Kolton Browning, who led the Warhawks to their first winning season as an FBS program last year, has been lost for the season with a leg injury.

Browning has been troubled by a quad injury this season and appeared to aggravate the injury during the Warhawks' 31-14 loss to Tulane at Malone Stadium in Monroe Saturday night.

ULM (2-3) will turn to redshirt sophomore Brayle Brown as its starter as the Warhawks open up Sun Belt Conference play against Western Kentucky Thursday night.

The Warhawks were the preseason co-favorites to win the Sun Belt Conference championship this season, primarily due to the performance of Browning a season ago.  He was the preseason conference Player of the Year this season.

The loss to Tulane was the latest setback for the Warhawks and it didn't set well with head coach Todd Berry, who called the performance "pathetic."

ULM will now have a natural freshman, Brian Williams, as Brown's backup.
