Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team opens up their 2014-2015 regular season schedule on Friday night, when they travel to Beaumont, Texas to take on the Lamar Cardinals in non-conference action.

Louisiana returns six players who started at least ten games last season, from a team that finished 14-16, not including guard Sylvana Okde and forward Brooklyn Arceneaux, who are injured.

Included in the group of returnees are junior guards Kia Wilridge and Keke Veal, who averaged 9.0, and 11.9 points-per-game, respectively, in 2013-2014, along with the lone senior on the squad, Robbie Brown.

The Cajuns averaged 64.3 points-per-game a season ago, while allowing 65.9. They shot 37% from the field, while opponents shot 42%.

On the boards, UL was outrebounded, 40.3/36.0, by the opposition last year.

Lamar, who went 18-13 last season, returns four starters, including senior forward Dominique Edwards, who averaged 17.3 points, along with 5.3 rebound a contest last year.

The Cardinals averaged 70.9 points-per-game a season ago, while allowing 67.8. They shot 40% from the field, while opponents shot 42%.

On the boards, Lamar was outrebounded, 42.5/37.3, by the opposition last year.

Lamar leads the all-time series, 41-21, including a 66-58 win over Louisiana back on November 27 of 2009, the last time that the two programs met.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 7 o'clock.
