For the second time in school history, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team will take part in the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament.

Louisiana, who is coming off their third-straight 20-win season, while advancing to the Sun Belt Championship game for only the third time in program history, will part of a 16-team field for the 24th annual Preseason WNIT.

The tournament, which is scheduled for November, features a three-game guarantee for all teams, with first-round matchups and the bracket being announced later this spring.

Participating schools will play host to all of the games.

2017 will mark the first time that the Cajuns have participated in the event since 2005.

The 2017 Preseason WNIT field will consist of: CSU Northridge (Big West); Drake (Missouri Valley); George Mason (Atlantic 10); Houston (American Athletic); Liberty (Big South); Louisiana (Sun Belt); Louisville (Atlantic Coast); Michigan (Big Ten); Milwaukee (Horizon); New Orleans (Southland); Old Dominion (Conference USA), Oregon (Pac-12); Saint Francis (PA) (Northeast); Southeast Missouri State (Ohio Valley); Texas A&M (SEC); and Toledo (Mid-American).

Louisiana, who went 20-11 last season, will return six players who started at least five games last season, including Simone Fields, the leading returning scorer and rebounder, who averaged 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds-per-game.
