Louisiana' Ragin Cajun women's basketball team will open up their 2013-2014 regular season schedule on Friday night, when coach Garry Brodhead's squad plays host to the Omaha Mavericks, in non-conference action at the Cajundome.

Louisiana finished 10-21, overall, last year, including a 7-8 home record.

The Cajuns return all five starters and have a total of seven returning letterwinners from last year's team, including guard Keke Veal, who averaged 13.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest last season as a freshman, along with guard Sylvana Okde, who chipped in 10.2 points last season, and forward Ashley Benjamin, who averaged 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds.

Louisiana beat Loyola (La.), 77-65, and Centenary 103-27, in their two exhibition games.

Omaha went 17-11 a year ago, and defeated the Cajuns, 79-67, last year, in Omaha, Nebraska.

The all-time series is tied, 1-1.

Louisiana who will play three of their first four games of the year at home, will host Southern-New Orleans on Monday night.

The women's basketball program has some special giveaways planned for Friday night's games, and all fans will be offered free food, prior to the contest.

Tip-off time set for 7 o'clock.
