Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team fell at home in Sun Belt Conference action on Saturday, dropping a 66-59 decision to the ULM Warhawks at the Cajundome.

The victory for ULM snaps a four-game losing streak, while extending Louisiana’s current losing streak to five games.

The win for the Warhawks also avenges a 68-49 setback to the Cajuns, back on January 4 in Monroe.

ULM led, 24-17, at the 3:53 mark of the first half, before Louisiana went on a 12-2 run to end the half, to take a 29-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.

UL out-shot ULM in the first half, 27%-24%, while out-rebounding the Warhawks, 25-20 in the initial half.

The Cajuns opened the second half on 6-2 run over the first 1:05, to take a seven-point lead, their biggest of the game, with18:55 remaining in the game.

ULM came back though, and matched their biggest lead of the game, at seven points, 58-51, at the 3:01 mark.

From there, ULM was able to hang on for the seven-point win, and earn a regular season split between the two squads.

The Warhakws out-shot the Cajuns, 50%-33% in the second half, and finished the game shooting 38%, compared to 30% for Louisiana, while finishing with a 35-30 rebounding advantage.

After shooting 10-of-11 from the free throw line in the first half, the Cajuns were only 3-of-12 in the second half, and finished 13-of-23 at the charity stripe.

Alexar Tuglar and Jasmine Shaw led the way for ULM, with 14 points apiece, while Ashleigh Simmons added nine points and ten rebounds.

In a losing cause for Louisiana, Kia Wilridge scored 15 points, while Gabby Alexander added 15 points and five rebounds.

With the victory, the Warhawks improved to 8-13, overall, and 4-5 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Cajuns fell to 10-10, overall, and 3-6 in league play.

Louisiana returns to action on Thursday night, when hit the road to take on UT-Arlington.
