Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad travels to San Marcos, Texas to take on the Texas St. Bobcats in a Sun Belt Conference affair.

The game will be the final game of a three-game road trip for the Cajuns, and will be the opening game of a women’s/men’s doubleheader, with the UL men taking on Texas St. at 4:30 pm.

Louisiana, who has won five of their last seven games, lost to South Alabama, 57-47, on Thursday, to fall to 13-6, overall, and 5-5 in league play, while Texas St., who defeated Appalachian St., 67-58, last Saturday, is currently 12-7, and 7-3, respectively.

The Cajuns are out-scoring the opposition, 61.3/57.6, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 41.3%/36.2%, and out-rebounded, 38.3/37.1.

Louisiana is paced by sophomore guard Jaylin Gordon, who leads the team in scoring, at 13.3 points-per-game, and junior guard Kia Wilridge, who is second on the team in scoring, first in rebounding, and second in assists at 12.8, 5.1, and 2.8, respectively.

The Bobcats are out-scoring the opposition, 63.8/63.1, and being out-shot by foes, 39.5%/37.2%, while holding down a 41.6/39.9 rebounding advantage.

Texas St. is paced by junior guard Erin Peoples, who is averaging 13.8 points, to go along with 6.9 rebounds a contest, and senior guard center Meghan Brauer, who is averaging 11.2 points and 2.0 rebounds-per-game.

Texas St. leads the all-time series, 5-2, including two wins over Louisiana last season.
