Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the Sam Houston St. Bearkats in a non-conference affair.

Tip-off time at the Cajundome is scheduled for 2 o’clock, and you can hear the game on ESPN 1420 & espn1420.com, beginning with the pregame show at 1:45 pm.

Louisiana, who is a perfect 4-0 on the young season, is coming off of a 71-60 win over Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday, while Sam Houston, who defeated Texas Southern, 61-54, on Wednesday evening, is currently 1-5.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 68.3/55.8, and out-shooting foes from the floor, 44.2.%/38.4%, while also holding down a 37.8/32.8 rebounding edge.

UL is paced by junior guard Keke Veal, who leads the team in scoring, at 13.5 points-per-game, and junior guard Kia Wilridge, who is second on the team in scoring, and first in assists, at 13.0, and 4.0, respectively.

The Bearkats are being outscored by the opposition, 67.8/56.2, while being out-shot, 41.4%/36.5%, and out-rebounded, 43.0/36.2.

Sam Houston is paced by junior guard Shernise Robertson, who is averaging 16.0 points and 2.8 rebounds-per-game, along with sophomore guard Taylor Dorsey, who is averaging 10.7 points, along with 5.3 rebounds a contest.

Sam Houston St. leads the all-time series, 5-4, including an 83-73 victory over Louisiana last season.
