Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Sunday afternoon, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the Jackson St. Lady Tigers in a non-conference affair.

Tip-off time at the Cajundome is scheduled for 4 pm, and you can hear the game on ESPN 1420 & espn1420.com, beginning with the pregame show at 3:45 am.

The game will mark the final non-conference tune-up for UL before Sun Belt Conference play begins on Tuesday, on the road against UALR.

Louisiana, who is 7-1 on the young season, is coming off of a 64-57 overtime road win over Alcorn St. back on December 19, while Jackson St., who defeated Northwestern St., 62-61, in overtime, back on December 20, is currently 3-7.

The 7-1 start for Louisiana matches is one of the best in school history, besting a 6-2 start by the 1983-1984 squad

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 63.9/55.5, and out-shooting foes from the floor, 39.6.%/39.2%, while also holding down a 36.6/35.4 rebounding edge.

UL is paced by sophomore guard Jaylin Gordon, who leads the team in scoring, at 15.3 points-per-game, and junior guard Kia Wilridge, who is second on the team in scoring, and tied for first in assists, at 13.0, and 3.0, respectively.

The Lady Tigers are being outscored by the opposition, 70.8/59.3, while being out-shot by foes, 41.1%/33.8%, and out-rebounded, 45.1/42.6.

Jackson St. is paced by senior forward Ayanna Hardy-Fuller, who is averaging 13.6 points, to go along with 8.1 rebounds a contest, and senior guard Dominique Brothern, who is averaging 9.6 points and 2.9 rebounds-per-game.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 2-1, including an 81-64 victory last season in Jackson, Mississippi.
