Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team picked up a non-conference win on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Southern Lady Jaguars, 60-49, at Earl K. Long Gym.

The Cajuns jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, with a Kemi Rotibi bucket, only 26 seconds into the game.

UL missed their next 16 field goal attempts however, and went the next 12:58 without a field goal, until Megan Whittaker connected on a three-pointer at the 6:36 mark of the initial half.

Southern took advantage of Louisiana's inability to put the ball in the hole, and took a 28-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

The first 13 minutes of the second half saw the game remain close, as UL led, 46-45, with just under 7:00 to play, but  the outscored the Lady Jags, 14-4, the rest of the way, to wind up with the 11-point victory.

Despite the slow start shooting the ball, the Cajuns actually went on to out-shoot Southern from the field, 40%-38%.

Louisiana also out-rebounded the Lady Jaguars, 33-31, and forced 24 turnovers.

Krystal Motley led the Cajuns in scoring, with 19 points, while Kemi Rotibi chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Adrian Sanders paced the Lady Jaguars in a losing cause, with 12 points and six boards.

The Cajuns, who have now won three of their last five games, improved to 3-4 on the year, while Southern fell to 1-4.
