The University of Louisiana women's basketball team battled until the very end, but Southern Miss used a strong second half to force overtime, edging the Ragin' Cajuns 76-73 in the extended period in the opening game of the 22nd annual Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Louisiana (1-3) led by as many as 17 in the first half, but Southern Miss (3-1) outscored the Cajuns 37-25 in the second half to force an overtime period. The Lady Eagles started out on a 13-0 run to begin the second half. USM added seven free throws in the OT period to stave off the Ragin' Cajuns.
