Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team is back in action on Saturday, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad travels to Jonesboro, Arkansas to take on the the Arkansas St. Red Wolves in a Sun Belt Conference affair.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 3:05 pm, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on our sister-station Talk Radio 960 AM & talkradio960.com, beginning with the pregame show at 2:50 pm.

The game marks the final regular season game of the year for Louisiana.

In addition, the contest will be the first game of a women’s/men’s spilt-doubleheader, with the UL men taking on Arkansas St. at 7:05 pm.

Louisiana, who has won 10 of their last 16, fell to UALR, 68-66, in their home finale on Thursday night, dropping to 18-10, overall, and 10-9 in league play, while Arkansas St. who beat South Alabama, 70-60, on Thursday, is currently 20-9, and 15-4, respectively.

UL is currently tied for fifth-place with UT-Arlington in the Sun Belt Conference standings, while Arkansas St. is in second place.

The Cajuns are out-scoring the opposition, 61.9/58.3, while being out-shot by foes from the floor, 41.7%/36.3%, and out-rebounded, 38.0/36.8.

Louisiana is paced by sophomore guard Jaylin Gordon, who leads the team in scoring, at 13.8 points-per-game, and junior guard Keke Veal, who is second on the team in scoring, and first in assists, at 13.7 and 3.3, respectively.

The Red Wolves are out-scoring the opposition, 71.6/64.6, while out-shooting foes from the floor, 44.8%/41.6%, and holding down a 36.7/36.6 rebounding advantage.

Arkansas St. is paced junior guard Aundrea Gamble, who is averaging 19.3 points and 5.3 rebounds-per-game, and junior guard Khadija Brown-Haywood, who is averaging 11.2 points and 5.6 rebounds a contest.

The Cajuns will be shooting for the two-game season sweep, after defeating Arkansas St., 69-57, back on January 22 in Lafayette.
