Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team recorded a big non-conference win on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Louisiana Tech Techsters, 58-55, at Earl K. Long Gym.

The win was a historic one, marking the first-ever win for Louisiana against Louisiana Tech in 40 all-time tries.

The victory also moves UL's season-opening record to a perfect 3-0, which is the first time that has happened since back in the 2004-2005 season.

The Cajuns never trailed, and led by as much as 18 points, 32-14, at the 2:15 mark of the first half, before taking a 32-19 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Louisiana out-shot Louisiana Tech in the first half, 48%-31%, while also holding down 20-15 rebounding advantage.

Jaylyn Gordon led the Cajuns in the first half, with 10 points, while Chrisstasia Walter paced the Techsters with 5 points.

Louisiana Tech chipped into the UL lead, and tied it, 53-53, on a three-pointer by Kanedria Andrews at the 3:27 mark.

Louisiana answered right back, when Kia Wilridge hit a key bucket, to make it 55-53, UL, before the Cajuns drained three free throws, to extend their lead to 58-53 with under 1:00 remaining.

The Techsters refused to give up hope, and got to within three points at the :35 mark when JaQuan Jackson hit a jumper, trimming the Louisiana lead to 58-55.

Louisiana Tech got the ball back, and had one final shot to tie the game, but a Walter three-point attempt was off the mark, and the Cajuns held on for the three-point win.

Louisiana finished the game out-shooting Louisiana Tech from the field, 49%-38%, while also winning the battle on the boards, 34-32.

Wilridge led the way for the Cajuns, scoring 18 points, while Gordon had 15.

In a losing cause for the Techsters, Kanedria Andrews scored 14.

With the win, Louisiana improved to 3-0, while Louisiana Tech fell to 1-2.

The Cajuns return to action Saturday, November 29, when they travel to meet Southeastern Louisiana.
