Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team ran their season-long win streak to 16 games on Sunday, after sweeping the FAU Owls in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader in Boca Raton, Florida.

Louisiana won the first game, in eight innings, 1-0, before also taking the second game, 8-4.

The two teams could only play two games in the scheduled three-game series because rain forced the cancellation of Saturday's scheduled doubleheader.

The opener was a pitcher's duel between Louisiana's Jordan Wallace and FAU's Taylor Fawbush, with both twirlers not allowing a single run through the first seven innings.

In the top half of the eighth inning, Louisiana senior catcher Sarah Draheim belted a solo home run, to break the ice, giving the Cajuns a 1-0 lead, and the eventual win.

Wallace, who improved to 21-6 with the win, tossed an eight-inning no-hitter, allowing only one walk, and one hit batter, while striking out 12 hitters, as she picked-up her 11th-straight win.

Fawbush, who fell to 12-10, was the hard-luck loser, allowing only three hits, and the one run, while walking three, and striking out four.

In the nightcap, it was FAU that struck first, when catcher Jordan Stovall doubled home two runs in the bottom half of the first inning, giving the Owls a 2-0 advantage.

Louisiana scored their first run of game two in the top half of the second inning, when senior shortstop Nerissa Myers singled home pinch runner Meagan Thomas, before freshman outfielder Shellie Landry tied things up with a solo home run in the top half of the fourth inning, making the score 3-3.

For Landry, it was her 14th homer of the year, which leads the conference.

Senior outfielder Brianna Cherry gave the Cajuns their first lead of the game in the top half of the fourth inning, doubling home Natalie Fernandez and Leandra Maly, making the score, 4-2, UL.

Louisiana scored another run in the top half of the fifth, as senior first baseman Matte Haack homered, making the score 5-2, before FAU cut the lead to 5-4, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning off Wallace, who was in in relief of starter Victoria Brown.

The Cajuns added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning, all unearned, as Cherry drove home a run with a sacrifice fly, before Haack drove home two runs with a double, making the score 8-4, and sealing the four-win win, and the doubleheader sweep for UL.

Haack finished the game with two hits, including a homer, a double, and three RBI's.

Wallace (22-6), who won her 12-stright game, recorded the win, while Stephanie Call (8-10) suffered the loss.
