The 8th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team split a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader with the Texas St. Bobcats on Saturday in San Marcos, Texas, dropping the first game, 14-13, before winning the second game, 15-2.

The splits sets up the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon, when Louisiana goes after their fifth conference series win in as many tries.

The first game was a wild one, which featured 8 home runs, four by each team, including two grand slams, one by each team.

Texas St. got a grand slam homer from Katie Doerre, and three more homers, from the likes of Ariel Ortiz, Courtney Harris, and Kortney Koroll, on their way to 14 runs, the most ever given up by the Cajuns in Sun Belt Conference play.

Louisiana had a grand slam home run by Shellie Landry, a solo shot by Kelsey Vincent, and two two-run homers from Lexie Elkins, while banging out 12 hits.

Randi Rupp (15-8) picked-up the win for the Bobcats, while Christina Hamilton (8-2)suffered the loss for UL, only the second conference loss of her career.

In the second game, the Cajuns scored two runs in the first inning, and never looked back, plating two more in the second, seven in the third, and four more in the fourth, as they went on to the 13-run mercy-rule win.

Louisiana blasted a school-record seven home runs, including two from Elkins and Aleah Craighton, and one each from Haley Hayden, Vincent, and Landry.

Alex Stewart (5-0) recorded the victory in the circle for UL, while Kaylee Garner (3-2) suffered the loss for the Bobcats.

With the split of the doubleheader, Louisiana is now 26-5, overall, and 11-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, while Texas St. now sits at 21-14, and 6-4, respectively.

The rubber game of the series is slated for Sunday at noon.
