The fifth-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team split a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader with the ULM Warhawks on Saturday at Lamson Park, dropping the first game, 4-2, before taking the nightcap, 8-3.

In the opener, Louisiana led 2-0, before ULM scored two runs in the sixth-inning to tie it at 2-2, and then added to more runs in the seventh-inning to win, 4-2. The loss was the first for UL at home this year, and snapped their 39-game win streak, dating back to April 6 of 2011.

Brianna Cherry homered for the Cajuns in a losing cause.

Samantha Hamby (7-5) recorded the win for ULM, while freshman Jordan Wallace (23-1) suffered her first loss of the year.

In the nightcap, Louisiana scored the first seven runs of the game, and then coasted for the five-run victory.

Shortstop Nerissa Myers paced UL at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI's.

Ashley Brignac (19-2) got the win for the Cajuns, while Haylie Wilson (13-7) suffered the loss for the Warhawks.

With the split, Louisiana is now 45-3 overall, and 20-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, while ULM stands at 24-23 overall, and 9-14 in league play.
