The 8th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team split a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader with the Troy Trojans on Saturday afternoon, losing the opener, 9-4, before taking the nightcap, 9-1, in five-inning, mercy-rule fashion, in Troy, Alabama.

In the first game, Troy handed the Cajuns their first loss of the season, scoring eight unanswered runs after they were behind 4-1, to win, 9-4.

Ashley Rainey (10-3) recorded the win for Troy, while Ashley Brignac (11-1) suffered the loss for Louisiana.

In the second game, the Cajuns scored nine runs in the first three innings, and then coasted to the 9-1 win, in five innings.

Freshman Jordan Wallace (15-0) got the win, while Jaycee Affeldt (5-5) suffered the loss for the Trojans.

With the split, UL is now 29-1 overall, and 4-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while Troy now stands at 20-8 overall, and 2-3 in league play.
