UL Softball Splits Doubleheader With FIU – Recap
The 7th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team split a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader with the FIU Panthers on Tuesday, in Miami, Florida, winning the opener, 10-5, before dropping the nightcap, 2-1.
In the first game, Louisiana trailed, 5-2, before exploding for five runs in the fourth inning to capture the five-run victory.
UL got homers from Nerissa Myers, Christi Orgeron, and Brianna Cherry in the win.
Freshman right-hander Jordan Wallace (19-0) stayed unbeaten with the win, while Mariah Dawson (15-9) suffered the loss for the Panthers.

In the second game, FIU's Ashley McCalin drove home pinch-runner Lindsay Menezes with a fielder's choice ground-out in the bottom half of the fifth-inning, to lead the Panthers to the one-run win.
Jen Gniadek (5-6) got the win for FIU, while Ashley Brignac (12-2) suffered the loss for the Cajuns.

With the split, Louisiana is now 34-2 overall, and 9-2 in Sun Belt Conference play, while FIU stands at 20-17 overall, and 8-4 in league play.
The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Wednesday, at 5 pm.
