Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns softball team wrapped-up an impressive opening weekend of play on Sunday afternoon, hitting four homeruns on their way to a 21-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State in the final game of the 26th Annual Louisiana classics Tournament, at Lamson Park.

Ashley Brignac picked the win, pitching an inning and two-thirds, allowing one hit and striking out two

Nerissa Myers blasted her first career grand slam homer, and drove in a career-high seven runs.

Paige Cormier continued her hot start, launching her fourth homerun of the season, to go along with four rbi's.

Sarah Draheim and Megan Granger also both homered, as the Cajuns launched four long balls, to extend their season total to nine.

Over the weekend, Louisiana out-scored their opponents, 55-5,  en route to the tournament championship, and a 3-0 early season record.

Christi Orgeron was named the MVP of the tournament, while Myers, Cormier, and Briana Cherry joined her on the All-Tournament Team.

Orgeron, went 9-for-11 on the weekend, with three doubles, two homeruns, 12 rbi's, and nine runs scored.

UL returns to action next weekend as they play host in the 8th Annual Mardi Gras Tournament Feb. 17-19.
