Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns softball program announced that six players signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, and will be eligible to play during the 2016 season.

Louisiana natives Summer Ellyson (Lafayette, La./Teurlings Catholic HS), Kara Gremillion (Gonzales, La./St. Amant HS), Chelsea Lotief (Lafayette, La./Ascension Episcopal School), Shannon Theriot (Berwick, La./Berwick HS) and Texas natives Brittany Nollkamper (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch HS) and Beth Ashley (College Station, Texas/A&M Consolidated HS) all signed with Louisiana on the first day that they were eligible to do so.

Ellyson, a pitcher, compiled  totaled 354 strikeouts in 168 innings in 2014 for Teurlings, a year after totaling 302 strikeouts in 147 innings in 2013. A two-time all-state selection, the Lafayette, La. native helped guide the Louisiana Blast to three-consecutive state titles from 2012-14 in club ball play.

Gremillion, a shortstop and utility player, was named an NFCA Third Team All-American after her sophomore campaign of 2013, while also capturing the Nola.com Player of the Year in 2014. The Gonzales, La. native has compiled a .509, to go along with an .823 slugging percentage, 139 hits, and 83 RBI in her three years at St. Amant.

Lotief, an outfielder, is the daughter of UL head coach Michael Lotief, The Lafayette, La. native was a pitcher for Ascension Episcopal, garnering all-district honors, while also playing centerfield for the Louisiana Blast.

Theriot, an outfielder, is a three-time first team all-district selection, as well as a 2014 all-state selection at Berwick High School after moving from Morgan City High School.

Ashley, an outfielder, hit 11 home runs in 2014, while earning second team all-district honors, one season after being named a first team selection at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas.

Nollkamper, a catcher/third baseman, is three-time first team all-district selection, as well as an all-state honoree at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, Texas. She has batted over .400 every season while helping her team to two district championships.

Louisiana begins their 2015 season on February 6, when they play host to the the Louisiana Classic at Lamson Park.
