The 5th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team currently ranks at the top in the latest Sun Belt Conference hitting and pitching statistics, after five weeks of play.

Offensively, Louisiana is batting a .366 as a team, which ranks first, 18 percentage points ahead of UT-Arlington, who comes in second, hitting a .348.

The Cajuns also lead the league in home runs, with 43, 16 ahead of Troy, who has 27.

UL is also tops in the conference in runs scored (183), on-base percentage (.476), and slugging percentage (.684), while also leading the leading the way with a .974 fielding percentage.

Pitching-wise, Louisiana is tops in the league, currently sporting an overall combined 1.81 team ERA., ahead of Texas St., who ranks second, with a 2.07 ERA.

Individually, UL senior catcher Lexie Elkins is the leader in the three major offensive categories, leading the conference in hitting (.556), home runs (15), and runs batted in, while also ranking at the top in on-base percentage (.658) and slugging percentage (1.463).

ULM's Rochelle Roberts ranks second in hitting (.545), while Louisiana sophomore shortstop D.J. Sanders is tied with Hannah Day of Troy with 7 homers, 8 behind Elkins.

In terms of RBI's, Day is second, with 28.

Roberts currently has 22 stolen bases, to lead the way in that department.

In the pitching department, Randi Rupp of Texas St. leads the way with 12 wins and 124 strikeouts, while Samantha Clakley of UT-Arlington paces the conference with a 1.42 ERA.

The Cajuns lead the way in the conference standings, sporting a 2-0 league mark, while Georgia St., Georgia Southern, and ULM are all one-half game behind, all at 2-1.

Texas St., Troy, and Appalachian St. are all 1-2, while South Alabama is 0-2.

UT-Arlington has yet to play a conference game.

Louisiana, who has won 12-straight, and is 19-1 overall, is in action four times this week, hosting McNeese St. in a non-conference affair on Wednesday night, before traveling to Arlington, Texas this weekend to face the UT-Arlington Mavericks in a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series.
