UL senior pitcher Jordan Wallace

The 9th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' so ftball team has been incredibly successful this season, sporting a 34-5 priorto this weekend's big non-conference series against the 2nd-raked Oregon Ducks in Eugene, Oregon, and pitching is a big part of the reason why.

Heading into this weekend's series, the Cajuns sport an overall team ERA. of 1.94, which leads the conference.

South Alabama, who ranks second, is more than a half-run a game behind, at a 2.49.

Obviously, with that type of team ERA., some outstanding individual statistics jump to the forefront, and this Louisiana pitching staff is no exception, with three members ranked in the top five in ERA

Right-hander Alex Stewart leads the way. The sophomore from Zionsville, Indiana has a spotless record on the season, at 10-0, and leads the league with a 1.10 ERA. over 51 innings pitched.

Stewart is presently the only pitcher in the conference with a sub 1.50 ERA., with South Alabama's Farish Beard ranking second, with 1.74 ERA.

Jordan Wallace is the second UL pitcher to rank in the top five, coming in at number three. The senior right-hander from Weatherford, Texas has been exceptional this season, accumulating a 1.84 ERA., along with a 14-2 record, over 102.2 innings pitched.

Even more impressive, Wallace is the only pitcher in the conference with an ERA. of under 2.50 who has thrown more than 100 innings.

Wallace is ahead of South Alabama freshmen hurler Kalen McGill, who ranks fourth, with an ERA. of 1.92.

The third Cajun pitcher to rank in the top five of individual ERA. is right-hander Christina Hamilton. The senior from Leesville, Louisiana, a Second-Team NFCA All-American a season ago, is 8-2 this season, long with a 2.41 ERA. in 64 innings in the circle.

Coaches will tell you that it's almost impossible to win without good pitchers, and Louisiana is fortunate enough to have three of them.
