UL sophomore pitcher Jordan Wallace

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team fell in the second day of the 2013 Sun Belt Softball Championships, dropping a 1-0, 8 inning decision to the South Alabama Jaguars, on Thursday, in Troy, Alabama.

The loss ended Louisiana's season-long 23-game win streak, and sent them to the elimination bracket, while South Alabama increased their current win streak to 13 games.

In a game that featured no runs, and no hits, going into the bottom half of the seventh inning, it looked like the Cajuns were set-up to primed to score first, when catcher Sarah Draheim delivered an apparent double to deep left centerfield to lead off the bottom half of the inning. Draheim, however, was called out for missing first base, and the two team went into the eighth inning, in an epic pitcher's duel between Louisiana's Jordan Wallace, and South Alabama's Hannah Campbell.

South Alabama was able to score the only run of the game, when Emily Messer waked with two outs, and then scored on a single to centerfield, off the bat of Brittany Campbell, the first hit by either team in the game, to make the score 1-0.

The Jaguars went on to hole the Cajuns scoreless in the bottom half of the frame, as Campbell (20-7) completed the eight-inning no-hitter, not allowing a walk, while striking out 13 batters.

Jordan Wallace (27-7) was the hard luck loses, tossing a one-hitter, while walking three, and fanning ten hitters.

With the win, South Alabama improved to 43-7 on the season, while Louisiana fell to 41-12.

The Cajuns return to action on Friday morning, taking on FAU, in an elimination game at 10 am.
