The 5th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team fell on the road on Sunday, dropping a 3-0 decision to the top-ranked Florida Gators in Gainesville, Florida.

With the victory, Florida sweeps the three-game, non-conference series, after taking both ends of a doubleheader from Louisiana on Saturday, winning the first game, 5-1, before capturing the second game, 14-1.

The Gators, who improved their current win streak to 7 games, while the series marked the first time Cajuns have been swept in a three-game series since April of last season, when they lost all three games of a series to the Oregon Ducks in Eugene, Oregon.

Florida got on the scoreboard first, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the second inning, courtesy of a two-out, two-run single off the bat of Aubree Munro, to take a 2-0 lead.

The Gators added another run in the bottom of the third, when Nicole Dewitt delivered a clutch two-out, run-scoring single, to widen their lead to 3-0.

That was all that Florida needed as they went on to the shutout win, to take the sries sweep, outscoring Louisiana, 22-2, over the weekend.

Florida, who outhit Louisiana, 8-2, was led at the plate by Munro, who went 2-for-2 with 2 runs batted in, while senior left-fielder Shellie Landry had a double for UL

Delanie Gourley (13-0) recorded the win in relief for the Gators, tossing 4.1 innings of shutout softball, while striking out 8.

Alex Stewart (17-3) suffered the loss for the Cajuns, allowing 3 runs, including two earned runs, on 6 hits, while walking one and striking out three.

With the victory, Florida improved to 41-3 on the season, while Louisiana dropped to 32-6.

The Cajuns return to action on Wednesday night, when they travel to Lake Charles to take on the McNeese St. Cowgirls in a non-conference match-up.
