The 15th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, falling to the 10th-ranked Texas Longhorns, by scores of 9-4, and 7-1, in Austin, Texas.

In the opener, Louisiana jumped on top first, as Matte Haack blasted a two-run homer in the top of the first inning, giving them a quick 2-0 lead.

After Texas came right back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs, on four hits, the Cajuns tied it in the top of the second inning, on a solo homer by freshman Sara Corbello, the first of her college career.

The Longhorns took over from there, scoring six unanswered runs, including four in the fourth, and two in the sixth, to go on to the five-run victory.

Blaire Luna (10-0) recorded the win in the opener, while Kristen Martinez (2-2) suffered the loss.

In the nigthcap, Texas jumped out on top in the first inning, as shortstop Taylor Thom crushed a two-run home run, her first of two in the game, giving them a 2-0 advantage.

The Longhorns went on the score in every inning that they hit, with the exception of the second inning, and held Louisiana to only one run, on a Samantha Walsh homer, as they cruised to the six-run victory, and the sweep of the twinbill.

Kim Bruins (6-0) got the win in the second game, while Jordan Wallce (8-4) suffered the loss.

With the two wins, Texas improved 21-3 on the season, while Louisiana dropped to 15-7.

The Cajuns return to action on Saturday, when they host WKU, in their conference opener.
