The 24th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team completed a 5-0 record in the Gulf Coast College in Gulfport, Mississippi on Sunday, defeating the Memphis Tigers, 3-2.

The win was the sixth-straight for the Cajuns, their longest win streak of the year.

Louisiana jumped on top, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning, when Natalie Fernandez led off with an infield single, and later scored on a two-out single by Shelbi Redfearn, giving them a 1-0 lead.

Memphis scored an unearned run in the top of the third to tie the game, before Kelly Braman belted a solo home run in the top of the fourth, giving the Tigers a 2-1 advantage.

Kelsey Vincent gave the Cajuns the lead back in the bottom of the fourth, delivering a two-run single, to put UL on top, 3-2, which is how the scoring ended.

Fernandez, Redfearn, and Vincent each collected two hits, as Louisiana outhit Memphis, 7-2.

Jordan Wallace (7-1) picked up the win, allowing only one hit and one earned run, over four innings, while Christina Hamilton recorded her first save of the season, allowing only one hit over the final three innings.

With the win, Louisiana improved to 14-5-1 on the season, while Memphis fell to 8-8.
