The 11th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun stayed unbeaten in the Lafayette, La. NCAA Regional, defeating the 18th-ranked Baylor Bears, 3-1, in winners bracket play on Saturday afternoon at Lamson Park.

The win extended UL's current win streak over Baylor to six-consecutive games.

The win moves Louisiana into Championship Sunday with an unbeaten record, only one win away from advancing into an NCAA Super Regional for the fourth-consecutive year, including the fifth time in the last six years.

Down 1-0 early, UL scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, before adding an insurance run in the bottom half of the sixth, to capture the come-from-behind 2-run victory.

The Cajuns, the top-seed in the tournament, and the #13-overall national seed, await whoever comes back through the elimination bracket between Baylor, Mississippi St., and Weber St.

Baylor scored the first run of the game, plating a run in the top half of the second inning, when Caitlin Charlton walked with two outs, moved to third on an infield single by Jessie Scroggins, and scored on an infield single off the bat of Robin Landrith, giving them a 1-0 lead.

Louisiana took the lead in the bottom half of the fifth inning, when DJ Sanders singled, and later scored on a ground ball off the bat of Hayley Hayden, before Lexie Elkins drove home Aleah Crayton with a sacrifice fly, giving them a 2-1 advantage.

The Cajuns added an insurance run in the bottom half of the sixth inning, when Leandra Maly walked with two outs, moved to second on a Sanders single, and scored on a single to right by Crayton, widening their lead to 3-1, and wrap-up the scoring.

Sanders led Louisiana at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a run scored, as UL outhit Baylor, 5-4.

Jordan Wallace (17-5) record the win in the circle for the Cajuns, striking out seven batters, while Heather Stearns (20-12) suffered the loss for the Bears.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 41-9 on the season, while Baylor fell to 39-16.

The Cajuns advance to Championship Sunday, to take on either Baylor, Mississippi St., or Weber St.

First-pitch is scheduled for 6 o'clock.

If Louisiana wins, they win the regional. If they lose, an "if necessary" game would be played about 30 minutes following the completion of the first game.

Baylor falls into the elimination bracket where they will play at 8:30 pm against the winner of the Mississippi St./Weber St. game, with the survivor moving on to take on Louisiana.
