The 5th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team continues to rank at the top in the latest Sun Belt Conference hitting and pitching statistics, after seven weeks of play.

Offensively, Louisiana is batting a .355 as a team, which ranks first, 35 percentage points ahead of UT-Arlington, who comes in second, hitting a .320.

The Cajuns also lead the league in home runs, with 60, 16ahead of Troy, who has 44.

UL is also tops in the conference in runs scored (249), on-base percentage (.461), and slugging percentage (.656), while also leading the leading the way with a .977 fielding percentage.

Pitching-wise, Louisiana is tops in the league, currently sporting an overall combined 1.62 team ERA., ahead of Texas St., who ranks second, with a 2.03 ERA.

Individually, UL senior catcher Lexie Elkins is the leader in two of the three major offensive categories, leading the conference in hitting (.538), and home runs (17), while also ranking at the top in on-base percentage (.648) and slugging percentage (1.263).

Hannah Day of Troy leads the conference in runs batted in, with 52, while Elkins is currently second in that category, with 41.

ULM’s Rochelle Roberts ranks second in hitting (.523), while Day has 14 homers, 3 behind Elkins.

Troy’s Kate Benton currently has 29 stolen bases, to lead the way in that department.

In the pitching department, Randi Rupp of Texas St. leads the way with 16 wins, while South Alabama's Devin Brown sports 184 strikeouts, and a 1.60 ERA.

The Cajuns lead the way in the conference standings, sporting a 7-1 league mark, while South Alabama is 6-2, one-half game behind.

Georgia St. and Georgia Southern Troy are both 4-2, and tied for third, followed by Troy and Texas St., who are tied for fifth place, at 4-5.

ULM is in sixth place, at 3-6, followed by UT-Arlington, who is 2-4, and Appalachian St., who currently stands at 1-8.

Louisiana is back in action on Saturday, when they play host to Texas St. in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader, representing the first two games of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series.
