The 11th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team rolled to their third-straight season-opening victory on Saturday, defeating the Southeast Missouri St. Redhawks, 8-0, in their first game on Saturday, and third of the 2016 Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The 5-inning mercy-rule win followed two season-opening mercy-rule wins over Ball St. (22-4) and UAB (15-0) on Friday, and comes prior to Louisiana's second game on Saturday, a 6 o'clock match-up tonight against Samford.

Hayley Hayden led a 9-hit UL attack, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Shellie Landry added three hits in four at-bats, including a run scored and a run batted in.

Alex Stewart (2-0) recorded the win in the circle for Louisiana, striking out 7 batters over three shutout innings of work.

With the victory, the Cajuns improved to 3-0 on the young season, while the Redhawks fell to 0-2.
