Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team remains a #2-seed in the latest projections for the 2018 NCAA Regionals.

These are the final projections before the NCAA Tournament field is announced on Sunday night.

Louisiana, who is currently 36-13, overall, is being projected as the #2-seed in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Regional by College Sports Madness.

Last week, the site projected UL as a #2-seed in the Fayetteville, Arkansas Regional, after being projected to to play in the Tuscaloosa Regional two weeks ago, and the Gainesville, Florida Regional three weeks ago.

Officially, there are no 2-4 seeds in the NCAA Regionals. The NCAA only recognizes the top seed. But we can all easily figure it out.

The Cajuns play host to the rest of the league for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament this week, May 9-12, at Lamson Park.

Unless something strange happens, Louisiana will be making their 20th-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, including their 28th in the last 29 years.

The only year since 1990 in which Louisiana failed to appear in a regional was 1998.

If the Cajuns are indeed a #2-seed, it would mark the second-consecutive year that would be the case, after hosting three-straight years, in which they were the top seed, from 2014-2016.

Louisiana has had a lot of success in postseason play, advancing to Super Regional play for 5-straight years, prior to last season.

These are projections, and nothing more; after all, Louisiana is being projected to go to a fourth different site in as many weeks.

I think the site does a fine job in projecting the field however, and while I personally believe that the Cajuns will ultimately head to Baton Rouge for postseason play, somebody has to go to Tuscaloosa, if Alabama does indeed host, as well as the other sites, so anything is possible.

The Cajuns are projected as the second-seed in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Regional, along with the top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide, Notre Dame, and Albany.

Of note, LSU is projected to host once again this week, while UCLA is projected as the top-overall National Seed, and Texas St. is the only other Sun Belt Conference school, besides UL, projected in the field.

Other than Louisiana and LSU, McNeese is the only other state school projected in the field of 64.
