Recently, the University of Louisiana hired Michael Alden, who recently retired as the Director of Athletics at University of Missouri, to do a consultants report on the athletics department at UL.

Released today, the report makes 20 recommendations as to how to improve, with the ultimate goal being broadening the fan base and increasing self-generated revenue.

Among the recommendations is to capitalize on multimedia to attract fans and raise money.  Specifically, the report suggested the university create a marketplace for expanded programming.

In addition the report suggested the investment of production equipment to produce a broader range of sports programming and taking control of media distribution.

Improved marketing and sales campaigns for season ticket sales is recommended as well.

Some of the recommendations support projects that are already underway.
