Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun men’s basketball team returns to the hardwood on Saturday night, when coach Bob Marlin’s squad plays host the Appalachian St. Mountaineers in a Sun Belt Conference match-up.

The game will be the backend of a day/night, women's/men's doubleheader, with the UL women taking on Appalachian St. at 5 o'clock.

Tipoff time for the men's game is set for 7:15 pm, or 35 minutes following the completion of the women's game, at the Cajundome.

Louisiana, who defeated UNO, 79-69, in non-conference action on December 21, is 4-5 on the young season, along with an 0-1 Sun Belt Conference mark, while Appalachian St., who lost to ULM on Thursday, 72-56, their 7th-consecutive loss, is currently 2-10, overall, and 0-1 in league play.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 84.8/80.1, and outshooting them from the floor, 45.1%/44.7%, while also holding down a 43.1/36.2 rebound advantage.

Louisiana is led by senior forward Shawn Long, who is averaging 18.2 points, to go along with 11.9 rebounds-per-game, and senior guard Kasey Shepherd, who is averaging 11.0 points and 2.1 rebounds a contest.

Appalachian St. is being outscored by the opposition, 77.8/67.4, as well as being outshot by opponents, 48%/41%, while also being outrebounded, 37.6/33.6.

The Mountaineers are paced by senior guard Frank Eaves, who is scoring 19.4 points, while pulling down 3.5 rebounds-per-game.
