Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's basketball team will be getting some additional help in the future, with the addition of Jakeenan Gant, a transfer from Missouri.

The news was first reported by Joshua Parrot of the Basketball Times.

Gant is officially listed on the UL team roster.

A 6-foot-8 forward, Gant averaged 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 53 games at Missouri over the past two seasons, including 5.1 points and 3.8 rebounds last season.

A native of Springfield, Georgia, Gant was a teammate of current UL point guard Jay Wright at Effingham High School.

Rated as a four-star recruit coming out of high school, Gant averaged 21.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 2.8 assists as a senior, while being named "Mr. Basketball" in the state of Georgia.

Gant will have to sit out the 2016-2017 season, due to NCAA transfer rules, and then have two years of eligibility remaining.

Gant becomes the second transfer that the Cajuns have added over the summer joining former USC guard Malik Marquetti, who will also have two years of remaining eligibility, beginning with the 2017-2018 season.
