Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun baseball team returns to the diamond on Friday evening, when coach Tony Robichaux’s squad travels to Birmingham, Alabama to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, non-conference series.

First-pitch is scheduled for 3 o’clock, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, beginning with the pre-game show at 2:30 pm.

The final two games of the series can be heard on News-Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM and kpel965.com.

The series marks the three games in a short three-game road trip, before Louisiana returns home for a five-game homestand.

The Cajuns are currently 4-4 on the season, after falling to McNeese St., 5-4, in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .262, along with four home runs, 34 runs batted in, and 12 stolen bases in 17 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 38-37

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.12, compared to a 4.38 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .231 batting average against.

Alabama will enter the match-up at 6-2.

The Crimson Tide is currently hitting a .321 as a team, along with four homers, and 57 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 65-24.

On the mound, Alabama currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.83, while holding opponents to a .203 batting average against.

Game times are 3 o’clock on Friday night, 2 pm on Saturday afternoon, and 1 o'clock for the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
