Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun baseball team returns to the diamond on Tuesday evening, when coach Tony Robichaux’s squad plays host to the 22nd-ranked Houston Cougars in non-conference action at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.

First-pitch is scheduled for 6 o’clock, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on Sports Radio ESPN 1420 & espn1420.com, beginning with the pregame show at 5:30 pm.

The contest marks the final game of a four-game homestand for UL, who will open another four-game homestand following a road tilt against Southern tomorrow night.

The Cajuns, who dropped two-of-three game to Georgia Southern in a conference series last weekend, are currently 16-13, overall, and 8-6 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Cougars will head into the series at 21-11, overall, and 2-4 in American Athletic Conference play.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .275, along with 19 home runs, 143 runs batted in, and 38 stolen bases in 59 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 161-128.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.68, compared to a 4.92 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .242 batting average against.

The Cougars are currently hitting a .276 as a team, along with 23 homers, and 176 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 197-153.

On the mound, Houston is currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.54, while holding opponents to a .267 batting average against.

Houston leads the all-time series with Louisiana, 37-12-1, with the home team winning the last eight meetings.

The Cougars have also won 9 of the last 11 match-ups, including a 6-4 victory back in 2013, the last time the two schools met.
