Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns baseball team recorded their third-consecutive win on Friday night, defeating the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 12-5, in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, non-conference series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Tyler Girouard and Dominick Francia led the way for Louisiana at the plate, with three hits each.

Senior right-hander Jordan Nicholson (2-1) pitched the first six innings, to pick-up his second win of the year, with Matt Hicks throwing the final three innings, to record his first save of the year.

USM starter Jay Myrick (1-1) lasted only 2.1 innings and suffered the loss.

With the win, the Cajuns improved to 9-5 on the year, while Southern Miss fell to 8-6.

The two teams meet in the middle game on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2:05 pm.
