The seventh-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun baseball team captured their third-consecutive win on Sunday, defeating the Texas Southern Tigers, 7-2, at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The win, along with victories of 5-4, and 13-0, in the first two games, gave Louisiana a sweep in the three-game, weekend, non-conference series.

Texas Southern scored an unearned run in the top of the third, to take a 1-0 lead, before Louisiana was finally able to get on the board in the bottom of the sixth, when Seth Harrison doubled, advanced the third on a balk, and then scored on a fielder's choice ground ball of the bat of Jace Conrad, to tie the game, 1-1.

Conrad singled home two more runs as part of a six-run UL seventh inning, giving him three RBI's in the game, and ten in the series, as the Cajuns took a commanding 7-1 lead.

The Tigers scored a run in the top of the ninth, courtesy of a Samuel Terry homer, the first extra-base hit of the weekend for TSU, and the first homer allowed by Louisiana pitching this year, but it was far too little, too late, as the Cajuns went on to the 5-run win.

Harrison collected three hits at the plate for Louisiana, while Conrad drove in three runs, as the Cajuns out-hit the Tigers, 9-3.

Matt Plitt (1-0), who took over in the third inning for starter Greg Milhorn, who had to leave the game with a strained oblique muscle, recorded the win for the Cajuns, tossing 5.1 innings of one-hit, shutout baseball, while Rodney Pearson (0-1) suffered the loss for the Tgers.

With the win, Louisiana improved to 13-2 on the season, while Texas Southern dropped to 5-12.

The Cajuns are back in action on Tuesday night, when they travel to New Orleans to take on the Tulane Green Wave in a non-conference tilt.
