At one time, they were referred to as the University of Arkansas at Last Resort.

It was the school who got the players that chose UALR as their last resort..  They hadn't qualified for the Sun Belt Baseball Tournament since 2003.

Even this season, they didn't win their first conference road game until the next to last weekend of the season.  It was the only conference win away from home (1-14).

Now, look who's playing for a championship.

Arkansas-Little Rock continued their improbable run through the Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament by defeating Florida Atlantic 5-3 to finish pool play unbeaten.

They will face Florida International, the tournament's #2 seed, tomorrow at 1pm for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

UALR (23-32) finished 10-20 in league play and qualified for the tournament despite getting swept in its final conference series against Arkansas State.

But the Trojans upset top-seeded Troy in the first round, then knocked off Western Kentucky to qualify for the title game.

Today, in a game that meant nothing to them as far as survival in the tournament was concerned, they took on an FAU team that really needed a win to help solidify its resume for an NCAA at-large bid.

And, won again.

The Owls, (32-25) dropped an extra-inning heartbreaker to Western Kentucky on Wednesday, then lost to Troy on Thursday.  They now must play the waiting game to see if they'll receive a postseason bid, but after an 0-3 showing in the tournament, it isn't likely.

UALR will try to become the first #8 seed to win the conference tournament.
