Turgeon leaves Texas A&M for Maryland

In the end, the lure of the Atlantic Coast Conference was too much for Mark Turgeon.
The Texas A&M coach announced yesterday he is leaving the Aggies to take over at the University of Maryland, replacing Gary Williams, who announced his retirement last week.
This will be the fourth Division I head coaching job for Turgeon, who previously was at Jacksonville State and Wichita State before taking the job at A&M.
Texas A&M is expected to contend for the Big XII title next year, returning most of their key players. Turgeon led the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four years.
