Troy, the #6 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament, now controls its own fate in Bracket "B" after an 8-3 win over #2 Arkansas State in Friday's pool play at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, KY.

The Trojans (28-29, 2-0) scored five times in the first inning, with Boone Shear's three run double the big blow in the inning.

All of the runs were charged to Red Wolves starter Daniel Wright (3-6), who failed to make it out of the first inning.

Nate Hill (7-2) threw 5.2 innings of relief to pick up the win for Troy.  Jakob Nixon and Tyler Vaughn highlighted a 16-hit attack with three hits each.

With the victory, Troy can clinch a spot against Louisiana-Monroe in the championship game on Sunday with a win over #7 Middle Tennessee.  Arkansas State (33-22, 1-1)  needs a win over FIU plus a Troy loss in order to keep its season alive.
