Townsquare Media and the University of Louisiana Athletics Department announced today that the entire 2012 schedule for Ragin’ Cajuns Softball will be broadcast live on Townsquare Media radio stations.

Most of the 56-game schedule will be heard on Townsquare’s ESPN1420 am.  Selected games will be heard on 960am KROF.  In addition, games will be available on-line at espn1420.com, or talkradio960.com.  The games can also be accessed through radioPup, a free application available for iphone and android phone users.

“Our softball program has been one of the best in the nation for a long time,” Athletic Director Scott Farmer said.  “We’re excited that our fans will be able to hear Ragin’ Cajuns Softball home and away throughout  the 2012 season.  Townsquare Media was instrumental in the expansion of our football network this past season and we greatly appreciate their commitment to all Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics.”

Steve Peloquin will handle the play-by-play duties for  most of the schedule.  Scott Prather will broadcast play- by- play for the Cajuns during the 2012 Mardi Gras Invitational February 17-19 and the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational March 2-4.

“Naturally, this wouldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors who make UL broadcasts possible,” said Mike Grimsley, Regional Vice-President and General Manager for Townsquare Media.  “But the consistency of the softball program attracts not only a fan base, but a sponsor base as well.  We don’t know of another commercial radio property that has ever broadcast the entire slate of softball at the collegiate level.  That speaks volumes about the success of this program.”

The Cajuns open the 2012 season by hosting the Louisiana Classics Tournament at Lamson Park February 10-12.
