It's time for a look back at another one of the top ten Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball moments from 2018.

The 2018 college softball season was another special one for Louisiana.

The Cajuns were ranked in the top 25 all season, qualified for postseason play for the 19th-consecutive year, and finished the season with a sparkling 41-16 record.

Over the next few days, I'll look at ten of the UL softball moments of the 2018 season.

In this segment, a memorable opening weekend for Kylie Jo Trahan.

Heading into the 2018 season, pitching was a major question mark for the Cajuns.

That was certainly understandable, as Louisiana had lost their top two pitchers from the season prior, including former All-American Alex Stewart, who graduated, and 2017 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Alyssa Denham, who elected to transfer.

Somebody was going to have to step up and become the next great Louisiana arm.

Summer Ellyson turned out to be that pitcher, but it was actually senior right-hander Kylie Jo Trahan that dazzled on opening weekend.

Trahan earned three of Louisiana's five victories in the Mardi Gras Classic, yielding just one run and five hits over 15 total innings pitched, while limiting foes to a .098 average.

In her two starts, Trahan yielded just one run, four hits and struck out 13 over a combined 12 innings. She added a win in relief by retiring six of seven batters faced during extra innings of a resumed game vs. Eastern Illinois on the final day of the tournament.

The Burkburnett, Texas product capped off a successful season-opening weekend with a one-hit shutout of Big 10-member Iowa in which she faced only three batters over the minimum to help Louisiana wrap up an undefeated start to the season.

For her efforts, Trahan was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.

With the emergence of Ellyson, and battling some injuries, Trahan didn't pitch a whole lot the rest of the year, being limited to only 56.0 innings pitched.

Still, Trahan finished the season with an impressive 6-1 record, to go along with a mice 1.88 ERA.

Trahan finished her UL career with an 18-5 record.

Trahan may not have pitched a lot after opening weekend, but she certainly helped set the tone for another great season for the team with her terrific work on that weekend.
