When Tony Robichaux became the skipper of a collegiate baseball team for the first time in 1987, did he think he would ever reach the 1,000 win mark?

The answer is most likely "no" because of his humble nature, but a man who constantly refers to the ups and downs of baseball picked up his milestone on a game with plenty of twists and turns of its own.

Robichaux threw four pitchers out of necessity. Starter Greg Milhorn got roughed up in the bottom of the fifth, when five runs crossed the plate in what was a scoreless game. After that, Dylan Moore, Riley Cooper and Colton Lee turned the lights out from the bullpen to collect Coach Robe's 1,000th career victory in the saltiest way possible.

The bullpen (Moore, Cooper and Lee) pitched over four innings of scoreless baseball, which brings a smile to their skipper's eye.

The seventh inning brought about the magic. Trailing 5-3, they strung together RBI swings from Greg Davis, Tyler Girouard and Nick Thurman in consecutive at-bats to take the lead and the eventual victory. It would be easy to get caught up in the box score, but the man in the dugout deserves to get showered with praise on a night like this.

Robichaux became a head coach at the age of 24...let that sink in. Imagine captaining a ship of men only a few years younger than you, then think of how hard it would be to command respect. Over that time he helped numerous, 16 to be exact, ball-players earn the status of "All-American." All the numbers in the world support why the victory over Alabama should warm the hearts of Cajun Nation. It's even better to know how much he cares about the program he built.

The win brings the Ragin' Cajuns back to even keel, at 5-5 on the year. In the upcoming rubber match, Coach Robichaux could pick up his 1,001th win. He just wants the victory and the series win to build on.
