Monday night was a full slate of games in the Sun Belt Conference and the norm was exciting, down to the wire games.  Here’s a look at the other games from last night.

GEORGIA STATE 60, ARKANSAS STATE 54—In Jonesboro, R. J. Hunter scored 23 points, including 14 of Georgia State’s final 15 points as the Panthers got a road win.  Hunter hit just 5-13 field goals but went 12-12 from the free throw line.

Trailing by three points in the final minute, the Red Wolves (8-9, 3-5) had a chance to tie the game but missed a three pointer and the Panthers (12-7, 5-3) iced the game at the free throw line.

With his 23 points, Hunter tied for the most points in Georgia State history.

Anthony Livingston scored 20 points to go with 13 rebounds to give Arkansas State a chance.  Sean Gardner  and Cameron Golden were also in double figures.  Those three players accounted for 49 of ASU’s 54 points.

Georgia State played without guard Ryan Harrow, who was suspended for the game.  Arkansas State was held to 28.6% shooting.

APPALACHIAN STATE 69, TROY 64—Senior Frank Eaves had his second straight sharpshooting performance to lead the Mountaineers (6-10, 3-4) to the road victory.

Eaves scored  29 points, including 6-10 from three point range.  He also hit 7-9 free throw attempts.  Overall App State hit 11-26 from long distance while Troy could only manage 6-24.  Troy (7-9, 2-5) led 34-29 at the half and led 40-36 in the second half before the Mountaineers went on a 10-0 run to take the lead for good.  Troy got within one point 62-61 with 2:40 to play.  But Eaves hit one from long distance and Troy misfired on three straight attempts.

Tommy Spagnolo was the only other player for App State in double figures with ten points.  Wesley Person scored 15 to lead Troy but was just 2-10 from three point range.  Kevin Thomas added 13 points, while Musa Abdul-Aleem chipped in with eleven.

UT ARLINGTON 66, TEXAS STATE 55—UTA has now won seven of its last eight home games by rallying late to beat the Bobcats.  The Mavericks (10-7, 4-3) trailed 51-50 but Greg Gainey hit a three point basket with 2:58 to go to give UTA the lead for good.  The Mavericks closed the game with a 14-2 spurt for the final margin.

Gainey came off the bench to lead the Mavericks with 12 points.  Lonnie McClanahan added eleven in the balanced UTA scoring.  Emani Gant scored 13 for Texas State (10-7, 4-4) as the Bobcats shot just 29.6 percent for the game

SOUTH ALABAMA 66, UALR 64---In Mobile,  Ken Williams hit a pair of free throws with three seconds remaining as the Jaguars (6-12, 4-4) withstood a furious UALR rally to get the win at the Mitchell Center.  South Alabama had a twelve point lead in the second half before the Trojans (6-11, 1-6) rallied with a 15-3 run over a seven minute period to tie the game.
Williams led four players in double figures for South Alabama with 20 points.  Dionte Ferguson added 15, Taishaun Johnson chipped in twelve points and Abdul Lewis scored ten.  Josh Hagins led all scorers with 23 points for UALR.  Roger Woods added 15.
