The LSU Tigers came into Omaha having won their last 16 games hoping to extend their winning streak to 17 games when they faced off against the Florida State Seminoles. The Tigers did just that as they came from behind again and won the gameĀ 5-4 in front of a packed crowd at TD Ameritrade in Omaha.

The Seminoles took control of the game early when they hit a 2-run home run in the 1st inning. Alex Lange seemed to have some trouble early in the game, along with the home run he allowed 4 walks but struck out 8 in the process. The Tigers answered in the bottom of the first in an interesting way, as they scored on a strikeout. The Tigers had a runner at 1st when Greg Deichmann struck out swinging but reached 1st when the ball got away from the catcher. Antoine Duplantis, the runner at 1st scored on a couple of wild pitches.

Every time the Seminoles would score the Tigers would seem to have an answer the next half inning. The Seminoles would score on an RBI single in the top of the 3rd and then the Tigers would score in their half of the 3rd on an RBI single from Duplantis. The Seminoles would increase their lead in the 5th on an RBI single and the Tigers would answer once again in the 5th on a solo home run from Michael Papierski to cut into the Seminoles lead but still hadn’t lead up to this point in the game.

The Tigers had trailed the entire game until the 8th inning came when the magic started. The Tigers would tie the game on a ball that got past the 2nd baseman and the outfielder couldn’t get the ball right away which allowed Cole Freeman to advance and two throwing errors allowed him to score on the play. Deichmann would score Duplantis with 1 out in the 8th and that’s all the Tigers would need to complete the comeback and get the win. Jared Poche and Zack Hess would combine to shut down the Seminoles despite a leadoff hit. The Tigers advance to the winner’s bracket game Monday night against the #1 ranked Oregon State Beavers atĀ 6 PM CT.
