The tradition, among baseball fans, is to throw back any home run balls hit by the opposing team.

The tradition, however, is not to hit one of your hometown players when you do throw the ball back.

This is video of a Detriot Tigers fan, throwing a home run ball hit by Chicago's Alejandro De Aza in the eighth inning back onto the field, and almost nailing Detroit outfielder Torii Hunter.

Hunter was not hit, but he's probably going to make sure he's looking behind him following opposing homers at Comerica Park for now on.

The White Sox went on to win, 6-3.
