Alabama shutout LSU in Game 3 of their SEC series Sunday by the score of 9-0. With the win, the Tide take the series, their first one over the Tigers since 2005. Here is more from Bill Martin of LSUsports.net.

LSU (30-19, 8-16 SEC) went the final 22 innings of the series without a run. The Tigers posted a four-run fifth inning on Friday night and went scoreless the remainder of the weekend thanks to two impressive pitching outings by Alabama, who improved to 30-20 overall and 12-12 in conference play.

Tide Take Series

The impressive Tide pitcher on Sunday was Jonathan Smart. After earning a save on Saturday, he pitched 8 plus scoreless innings in Game 3. The leftie struck out 4 Tiger batters, while allowing 8 hits, to earn the win.

LSU's Ben Alsup is charged with the loss. Alsup struggled in his two innings of work. He gave up 7 runs on 8 hits, putting the Tigers in an early 7-0 after the 2nd inning.
