Arkansas-Little Rock fought from behind all night and finally caught Western Kentucky with :26 left on a three pointer by Solomon Bozeman. But Jamal Crook’s short bank shot with :00.7 left gave the Hilltoppers the win. Stephffon Pettigrew had a double double for WKU (13-13, 7-6). Matt Mouzy had 17 to lead UALR (14-14, 6-6). The Hilltoppers have now won eight of their last ten games.
NORTH TEXAS 82, SOUTH ALABAMA 79
In Denton, UNT snapped a four game losing streak by coming from behind to defeat South Alabama 82-79. Tristan Thompson had 18 points to lead the Mean Green, while George Odufuwa had twelve ponts and ten rebounds. UNT trailed by eight early i the second half and got their biggest lead of six points with 23 seconds left. North Texas (17-8, 6-6) had four players in double figures. USA (10-14, 4-9) was led by freshman Augustine Rubit with 17 points. USA also had four in double digits in the loss.
TROY 69, MTSU 65 (OT)
Troy scored the final four points of overtime to snap Middle Tennessee’s five game winning streak. Steven Cunningham’s free throw gave the Trojans the lead for good with 3:06 left in overtime. Middle Tennessee was 0-9 from the field in the overtime period. Will Weathers led four Trojans in double figures with 15 points as Troy (8-17, 6-7) won for the fourth time in five games. The loss by MTSU (14-13, 9-5) means Florida Atlantic has clinched a first round bye in the SBC Tournament.
DENVER 65, ULM 37
Denver (13-13, 9-4) took over sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt Conference West Division by hammering ULM (6-22, 1-13) Denver shot 54% from the floor, including 11-23 from three point range. Brian Stafford led the Pioneers with 14 points. The Warhawks have now lost nine straight and 13 of their last 15.
