Thomas Morstead Is Shaving His Head For A Very Good Cause
It's not very often that NFL teams have punters that fans are especially proud of. The New Orleans Saints are the true exception to that rule. Thomas Morstead's appearance on the football field usually signifies that something has not gone well for the team. However, his appearance in New Orleans has been a blessing for a community that is much larger than the city of New Orleans.
Once again the soft-spoken but big on action athlete is showing us how to be charitable and kind. He will be shaving his shoulder-length hair as a donation and to bring attention to the St. Baldricks Foundation, an organization that funds research for pediatric cancer.
The shaving of the head will take place a special event on March 24th. Morestead is inviting all Saints fans, and fans of kids, to get involved.
Earlier this year after losing a gut-wrenching playoff game to Minnesota in Minnesota Morstead demonstrated his charitable side by donating over $200,000 to a children's hospital in Minneapolis
In that game, Morstead suffered a rib injury while making a tackle, something that most NFL punters don't have the footballs to do. His courage and sportsmanship were truly rewarded as Saints fans and Vikings fans used that play as a catalyst to donate to Morestead's charitable efforts.
