I know the aching heartbreak of the final play against the Minnesota Vikings is still fresh in your minds but here's a happy memory to attempt to ease the pain.

On this day in sports history, eight years ago, the New Orleans Saints took out the Minnesota Vikings in the rowdy confines of the Superdome in the 2010 NFC Championship Game. This victory advanced the Saints to the franchises first ever Super Bowl appearance.

The Minnesota Vikings absolutely dominated this game in just about every single fashion, except for one glaring aspect. They lost the turnover battle 5 to 1 and it seemed like the Vikings turned the ball over in crucial moments every single time.

The Saints couldn't always capitalize on those turnovers but what it did was keep the Vikings from scoring points. That would be all the Saints would need and oh yeah, a CLASSIC Brett Favre throwing across his body blunder. It was like the football gods were frowning upon him for going to the Vikings after having become such a legend with the Green Bay Packers.

Take a look at the team stats here.

In case you wanted a nice little refresher on the game here ya go:
