The Louisiana Ragin' Cajun Men's Basketball team got off to a rough start to the road trip this week when their flight out to Texas was canceled due to inclement weather.

So, the team hopped aboard a bus and slowly made their way to the University of Texas at Arlington to take on the defending Sun Belt Champions.

The team arrived to their hotel after midnight Thursday morning, there was a lot going against them walking into a hostile environment on the road.

None of that seemed to bother them as the Cajuns took out The Mavericks 77-65.

The game didn't start out how UL would have liked, it seemed like it might be one of those nights where the bus trip and lack of sleep might have played a factor.

Despite how poorly the team played to open the first half, they were able to keep the game within striking distance at the half as they trailed 44-32.

The Mavericks were able to increase their lead to 14 early on in the second half. With the game seemingly hanging in the balance between, fighting to get back into it, and getting blown out, the Cajuns fought.

And boy did they fight, they fought all the way back, erasing that 14 point deficit, using an impressive 21-4 run that propelled them to a 53-50 lead.

From there, they never looked back. The defense clamped down and the offense continued running like a well oiled machine.

First and foremost, a big shout out is in order to Justin Miller who scored 8 of his 10 points, grabbed 4 of his 7 rebounds, and dished out 3 of 4 of his assists in the second half. In addition, made a ton of hustle plays on both offense and defense that really propelled the team onward in the second half.

The leading scorer for the Ragin' Cajuns tonight was Frank Bartley who led all scorers with 26 points.

Bryce Washington did what he does tonight, filling up the stat sheet. He chipped in 9 points, to go along with a game high 16 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Louisiana improved to 16-3 on the season, 6-0 in the Sun Belt Conference, and have now won 12 straight conference play games dating back to last season.

The team will travel to Texas State next to take on the Bobcats on Saturday (1/20/18) at approximately 4:30pm or whenever the women's game finishes up.
